Shark bedding has become increasingly easier to find online, with coordinating accessories such as window treatments, area rugs, and wall art. With so many children loving nautical, ocean and shark-themed bedrooms, there is now a wide variety of not only shark bedding, but shark wall art & stickers, lamps, plush toys, bath towels and bath mats to choose from.
When designing a kids’ theme room, it’s best to keep strong design elements such as sharks, dinosaurs or pirates in a balanced proportion to create a cohesive design. When viewing shark bedding available through different brands, it’s easy to see that they have shark quilts, comforters, duvet covers, sheets and décor in the same color range. This makes it much easier to pull the whole look together.
Shark Theme Bedroom by Crate & Barrel
Here’s an example of a well-designed shark theme bedroom. The bedding has been used to define the color in the surrounding walls and décor. Orange has been added as an accent to add a fresh dash of color.
- An adjustable lamp at the top of the bed encourages children to read more and can be positioned to best meet their needs.
- The wave pattern on the wall makes a dramatic and fun statement. A custom paint color can easily be achieved by bringing a swatch of fabric to the paint store and asking for a match. This also is a great technique to use if the room lacks architectural interest. You can create eye-catching effects with paint or wallpaper or a combination of the two.
- The modular storage system has the look of built-in furniture and can be used to create storage walls or room dividers. These are at the perfect height to provide access to young children.
- The acrylic shelves are light and airy in appearance, and give the feeling of the glass of a fish tank.
The gray area rug provides visual balance from all of the tones of blue used within the space. Kids also spend a lot of time on the floor, so comfortable carpeting or rugs are an essential element.

If you decide to go with shark bedding & throw pillows on the bed, as well as shark wall décor, it works best to keep the furniture light neutral with weather washed woods in a soft white, gray or tan that matches the bedding.
Whether your child loves giant great whites or hammerheads, a shark bedroom is perfect for kids that love the ocean. You can easily integrate other nautical elements to complete the look such as whales, anchors, rope, netting, distressed wood and wall decals. Minted has a great selection of reasonably priced shark wall art.
A net draped on the ceiling secured by small white hooks on the ceiling, with plastic or plush sharks placed inside – can add instant drama and dimension.
