“Sportswear as American as red, white, and blue is where Michael truly excels. Plaids and ginghams as fresh as Summer showed in sundresses and cropped pants paired with midriff-wrapped shirts. Crisp white shirts topped garden floral skirts and tulle skirts embroidered with daisies, lilacs and garden blossoms.”

“This was Phillip at his best – feminine with an edge and lots of great details his followers will love. Baroque flourishes taken from an ancanthus leaf motif were swirled on fabrics and curled around the body to create shaped jackets, dresses and tops. An engineered cane print mixed back to florals spoke to the mixed-prints trend we saw on nearly every runway. Shades of cream with touches of gold, peach, and apricot mixed on curvy tops and jackets that appeared over narrow pants, gym-inspired shorts, and A-line skirts and dresses. Black and pine green served as a nice contrast to the pale palette, while leather details and utility straps kept the darker pieces interesting and cool.”

“Asian influences prevailed throughout Mrs. Herrera’s Spring collection that was made modern with floral photo prints and neoprene techno fabrics. Kimono influences shone in jackets, necklines and sleeves, updating the ladylike sensibility of the clothes. White was the canvas for the pink and violet floral motifs throughout the show. Dramatic evening dresses were embellished with tiles that had been printed with the floral then and then cut into irregular, geometric pieces and reapplied to create a shattered image. Cleverly cut midriff tops paired with long gowns gave a youthful approach to evening dressing, while flat sandals with an oriental feel lent freshness to both day and evening looks”

“Orientalism was executed perfectly at Herve Leger by Lubov Azria. Sexy, figure-conscious kimono-sleeve bodices topped pencil skirts, while orgami details on necklines gave a subtle nod to the Asian influence. Mixed patterns and prints on the signature bandage knit lent an exoticism to the collection. The blush-with-black trend continued here (often with geometric Cubist cutouts), but it’s the intensity of the color, the madcap macrame, and nomadic details that made this collection a triumph.”

“Oscar de la Renta always shows Spring is about prettiness, and this season he went to what he knows best: feminine elegance with flowers, lace, and touches of gingham toppers over trousers and sheer gingham skirts. Abundant lace in black and white mixes floated down the runway in full, midi-skirts and dresses paired with flat sandals. Colorful floral embroideries detailed pretty tulle and organza dresses that will thrill fans of every age. And for night, Pale pink lace, a bejeweled aqua gown, and dramatic combinations of black and white will keep Spring and Summer galas thoroughly glamorous.”

“Color was the name of the game on the runway at Lela Rose. Brilliant fuchsia and canary yellow punctuated the graphic play of black and white, eventually giving way to a sea of blues. A palette of blush and cream softened the mood, while ornate beading and shimmering organza lent lightness and textural interest. Polka dots and garden roses were the prominent prints, showing up on everything from kimono jackets and flowing midi-skirts, to day dresses all Lela devotees will love to give a twirl this Spring.”
